Best Ray-Ban Meta Alternatives Under $160 (2026): Camera Glasses Compared

Last updated October 6, 2026

Short answer: if you want hands-free photos, video, calls and an AI assistant for less than Ray-Ban Meta, the best value in our range is the AIGLASSZ Vision V74 at $120.99. Pick the Vision V63 for first-person video and AI recognition, the ELS 4K for outdoor use, or the MT5 Ultra if battery matters most. The trade-off is real: you give up Meta AI, Meta’s app and the Ray-Ban frame program.

Most alternatives in mainstream roundups, from brands like Solos, Rokid, HTC and Oakley, cost $229 to $699 (TechRepublic, September 2026). This guide covers camera glasses under $160 instead, with the specs as each product lists them and the limits stated plainly. New to the category? Start with AI Glasses Explained.

How we chose these glasses

We started with every camera glasses model we sell under $160 and kept the ones with complete, consistent specifications on the product page: camera, storage, battery, connectivity and app. We left out models whose listings conflict with themselves, and we report specs exactly as listed, including where a product name promises more than the specs show. Prices were checked on the day of publishing. AIGLASSZ sells every product here; see how we choose and review products.

1. AIGLASSZ Vision V74: best value overall

The Vision V74 covers the features most people buy Ray-Ban Meta for: a 13 MP camera for photos and anti-shake video, built-in speakers and microphones for calls and music, a voice assistant and translation through its companion app. It has 32GB of built-in storage, a 290 mAh battery, Bluetooth 5.3 and an IPX4 splash rating, and works with Android 10+ and iOS 14+. Six frame and lens combinations are available, including blue-light and color-changing lenses.

Watch for: like every glasses in this list, the AI features run through a third-party app and need your phone’s internet connection.

2. AIGLASSZ Vision V63: best for POV video and AI recognition

The Vision V63 is built around first-person capture. It records 1080p video from a 13 MP camera, and its app (wakeok) adds object, scene and text recognition, so you can ask what you’re looking at. It connects over Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.3, has open-ear audio for calls, and runs on a 300 mAh battery. It has no built-in display, which keeps the frame looking like normal glasses.

Watch for: it is the most expensive pick here at $154.99, and the listing says AI features need the app and a network connection.

3. ELS 4K AI Smart Glasses: best for outdoor use

The ELS 4K carries the strongest water rating in this list, IP66, which means it is protected against dust and powerful water jets. Despite the “4K” in the name, the listing specifies an 8 MP camera with 1080p video. It has 32GB of storage, Bluetooth 5.3, a 290 mAh battery rated at about 7 hours, and three lens options: blue-light, color-change and sunglasses. It uses the HeyCyan app.

Watch for: IP66 is not waterproof for swimming; keep it out of the pool.

4. MT5 Ultra with Charging Case: best battery

The MT5 Ultra is the closest to Ray-Ban Meta’s charge-in-the-case design: the glasses hold 300 mAh and the charging case adds a 2,000 mAh battery. It has an 8 MP camera, AI translation and object recognition, an IPX4 rating, and supports Android 10+ and iOS 14+. At $96.99 it is also the lowest-priced camera pick here.

Watch for: a lower-resolution camera than the 13 MP picks.

5. Hiwego 12K AI Smart Sunglasses: best sunglasses style

The Hiwego 12K pairs a 13 MP single-lens camera with 32GB of storage, a 290 mAh battery and a ChatGPT-based assistant that answers in 10+ languages. It comes in black or tortoiseshell.

Watch for: “12K” is a model name, not a video resolution. The listing gives no video resolution, so judge it on the 13 MP still camera.

6. Blackview BV300: best for Bluetooth 6.0

The Blackview BV300 is the only pick with Bluetooth 6.0, and it comes from an established phone maker. Photos are listed at 6560×4928 and video at 1600×1200. It connects over Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, uses the DA Echo app, and has a 260 mAh battery.

Watch for: it is sold as “4K”, but the listed video resolution is 1600×1200. Its 2GB of storage is the smallest here.

Which one should you buy?

Three questions settle it for most people:

  1. Will you mostly film, or mostly listen? If you’ll mostly take calls and play music, skip the camera and buy audio glasses. If you’ll film, keep reading.
  2. Where will you use them? Outdoors in rain or dust, choose the IP66 ELS 4K. For long days away from power, the MT5 Ultra and its charging case. Otherwise, the Vision V74.
  3. Do you want the AI to “see”? If asking about objects, signs and text matters, the Vision V63 lists object, scene and text recognition.

And if the Meta AI assistant itself is the reason you want Ray-Ban Meta, buy Ray-Ban Meta. No alternative here replaces it.

What you give up compared with Ray-Ban Meta

Lower prices come with real trade-offs. Here they are, with nothing softened:

  • Meta AI and the Meta AI app. These glasses use their makers’ own apps (HeyCyan, wakeok, DA Echo and others). They work, but they are less polished and get fewer updates than Meta’s.
  • The Ray-Ban and Oakley frames. Brand styling and the official prescription program are part of what you pay for with Meta glasses.
  • Retail support. You can’t try these on in a store. Our 30-day return window and 12-month defect warranty cover you instead.
  • Published battery hours. Most of these listings give battery capacity in mAh rather than hours, so like-for-like comparison is harder. Meta rates Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 at up to 8 hours of moderate use (Meta).

How to read camera-glasses specs

  • “4K”, “8K” and “12K” in a name are often marketing. Look for the video resolution in the specifications. The BV300 above is a good example.
  • Megapixels describe photos, not video. A 13 MP camera may still record 1080p video.
  • Check the water rating. IPX4 means splash-resistant; IP65 and IP66 add dust protection and resistance to water jets.
  • Check the app. The app does the AI work, so read its reviews before you buy.

Don’t want a camera at all?

Some people only want open-ear music and calls. Audio glasses such as the AIGLASSZ Tone T04 ($40.99) give you polarized lenses, Bluetooth 5.3 and about 4–5 hours of music, with no camera to worry about. See all audio and Bluetooth glasses.

Frequently asked questions

Are cheaper camera glasses as good as Ray-Ban Meta?

For photos, calls and music, the picks above cover the same basics. Where Ray-Ban Meta stays ahead is the Meta AI assistant, app polish and frame choice. Choose based on which of those you would actually use.

Do these glasses need an app?

Yes. Each pairs with its maker’s app over Bluetooth, and the AI and translation features use your phone’s internet connection.

Do they work with iPhone?

The Vision V74 and MT5 Ultra list Android 10+ and iOS 14+. The other picks list iOS and Android support through their apps; check the product page for your phone.

Can I get them with prescription lenses?

Not through an official program like Ray-Ban’s. Several models offer clear, blue-light or color-changing lens options; ask an optician whether your prescription can be fitted to a specific frame.

Is it legal to record with camera glasses?

Recording rules vary by state, especially for audio. Read the Reporters Committee’s state-by-state recording guide, and let people know when you are recording. This is general information, not legal advice.
